How does Ayurveda Treatment Work for Amblyopia?

• Amblyopia, also known as lazy eye, is a developmental eye disorder that affects normal vision. It occurs because of a lack of coordination between the eyes and the brain. It affects mainly one eye, and the eyesight in one eye is way better than the other.
• Poor visual acuity from one eye, weak pattern recognition, squinting of one eye, and focusing on the objects by tilting the neck are the significant sign and symptoms of Amblyopia.
• In most patients below seven years of age, Amblyopia or lazy eye can be improved even up to 100% levels. Patients above seven years of age but less than 15 years of age can find some improvement in vision. Generally, Patients above fifteen years of age do not show any improvement.
• Amblyopia is treated with Ayurveda medicines, Ayurveda therapies like netradhara, tharpana, annalepana, eye patching, and other eye exercises. The vision improves with 2-3 courses of Ayurveda procedures in the hospital for approx 10-15 days each.
• The use of junk food, unhealthy fast food, excessive fasting, and poor nourishment gives resistance to healing and should be discouraged.
• The use of electronic gadgets like tv, mobile phone, and computer with both eyes is harmful to the affected eye's vision. The patient can use the devices as exercise with one eye patched.
