Diabetic retinopathy can result in the loss of vision. The major reason behind diabetic retinopathy is the alterations in the vessels supplying blood to the retina. For good vision, a healthy retina is needed. This disease can be prevented by taking ayurvedic medicines. These medicines control diabetes and prevent it from affecting the retina.
Generally, with time, hyperglycemia (high blood sugar content) causes blockage of the blood vessels that offer nourishment to the blood and thus, cut off the blood supply. So, the eye chooses to grow new blood vessels that can’t be properly developed and can undergo leakage.

In diabetic retinopathy cases, Panchkarma and Netravasti therapy are mainly used for treatment, which nourishes the eyes also. In this treatment, the dough of wheat flour is prepared and applied on the sides of the eyes and medicated ghee is put in between, which nourishes the eyes and it showcases its effect slowly. The use of this therapy halts the disease and the possibility of its cure increases. There are few medicines also in Ayurveda which enhances the retina power.
